Wiley X WX Omega Captivate Polarized Bronze Mirror

The mirror bronze, on a scope designed for sport shooting. This is the most accessible configuration in the Omega range.

The mirror bronze lens, VLT 15%

Fifteen percent transmission, like the smoked version - but the tint is not the same. Bronze is a warm tint: it retains more separation in greens and browns than a neutral grey, which helps to distinguish a target from a natural background.

The mirror finish reflects some of the light before it enters the lens, and conceals the wearer's eyes from the outside.

Smoked or bronze

Same VLT, two opposing logics. Smoked is neutral and doesn't alter anything: it's the choice when color fidelity is paramount. Bronze enhances contrast in natural shades.

Declared standards

ANSI Z87.1+ and MIL-PRF-32432(GL), the US military performance specification.

What Captivate technology brings

Captivate lenses are polarized, but Wiley X doesn't stop there: the brand claims truer colors and sharper details, in addition to the glare reduction inherent in polarization.

Polarization eliminates light reflected from flat surfaces - water, car hoods, windows, wet roads - without darkening the rest of the scene. A simple tinted lens, on the other hand, darkens both the reflection and the target in the same proportions.

HEV protection, in addition to UV

Beyond 100% UVA and UVB, these lenses also filter HEV light - the high-energy blue-violet band, located just after ultraviolet in the visible spectrum.

This is a protection that most ballistic glasses do not claim, and it concerns the part of the spectrum to which we are exposed all day long, not just in bright sunshine.

The lens and its coating

Unbreakable Selenite polycarbonate, extruded, cut, then hot-formed. The hard T-Shell coating is scratch-resistant, anti-reflective, and oleophobic.

This last property is rarely mentioned yet very concrete: an oleophobic surface repels oily substances. Fingerprints and sunscreen wipe off instead of smearing - which changes everything on a lens handled with dirty hands.

The frame

Reinforced injection-molded frame and temples made of Triloid nylon, anatomically shaped for prolonged wear. The material makes them both lightweight and very durable.

Rubber elements at the temple tips reduce fatigue and increase grip.
