Rite in the Rain™
Rite in the Rain Collection - All-Weather Paper
Rite in the Rain paper was developed by Jerry Darling for loggers in the Pacific Northwest who needed to record their findings in the rain. He and his wife, Mary, used to treat sheets of paper with a moisture-repellent coating by hand at home.
The company, JL Darling, still manufactures its paper in Tacoma, Washington. Originally created for foresters, it now generates about a third of its sales from the U.S. Army.
At Outpost, the collection includes waterproof paper field notebooks in 10 x 15 cm and pocket-sized 7.6 x 12.7 cm formats, as well as the Monsoon Tracker kit.
Paper alone isn't enough: a standard ballpoint pen won't write on a wet sheet. The brand offers its all-weather metal pen with pressurized ink, as well as a mechanical pencil.
