Mid-Height Boots
Mid-height, halfway between low-cut and high-cut: the upper rises above the malleolus without constricting the ankle.
It is the most common compromise for trail hiking because it protects against stones and low-lying moisture while maintaining flexibility. A high-cut boot is only truly justified when carrying a heavy load or on unstable terrain.
