Three declared standards, including the US military specification. This is what elevates the Gravity above a simple reinforced pair of sunglasses.

Standards, explained

ANSI Z87.1+ - the American eye protection standard, the "+" indicating high-velocity impact resistance.
MIL-PRF-32432(GL) - the US military performance specification.
EN 166 F - the European standard, grade F for low-energy impact.

The removable Facial Cavity Seal

The facial cavity closes the gap between the frame and the face. It blocks peripheral light - the light that comes in from the side and ruins contrast - as well as pollutants and solid objects that would pass under the lenses.

This is the difference between sunglasses and safety glasses: the latter seals the perimeter.

The smoke lens, VLT 15%

Fifteen percent transmission: a daytime lens. The smoke tint absorbs the spectrum evenly, so colors remain true.

What Captivate technology offers

Captivate lenses are polarized, but Wiley X doesn't stop there: the brand claims bolder colors and sharper details, in addition to the glare reduction inherent in polarization.

Polarization eliminates light reflected by flat surfaces - water, hoods, windows, wet roads - without darkening the rest of the scene. A simply tinted lens, on the other hand, darkens both the reflection and the target proportionally.

HEV protection, in addition to UV

Beyond 100% UVA and UVB, these lenses also filter HEV light - the high-energy blue-violet band, located just after ultraviolet in the visible spectrum.

This is a protection that most ballistic eyewear does not claim, and it concerns the part of the spectrum to which we are exposed all day, not just in direct sunlight.

The lens and its coating

Unbreakable Selenite polycarbonate, extruded, cut, then hot-formed. The hard T-Shell coating is scratch-resistant, anti-reflective, and oleophobic.

This last property is rarely mentioned yet very practical: an oleophobic surface repels greasy substances. Fingerprints and sunscreen marks wipe off instead of smudging - which makes all the difference on a lens handled with dirty hands.

The frame

Reinforced injection-molded Triloid nylon frame and temples, anatomically shaped for extended wear. The material makes them both lightweight and very durable.

Rubber elements at the temple tips reduce fatigue and increase grip.
