The Essential Kitbag was designed to hold a complete survival kit and nothing else: a water bottle with a canteen cup, a folding stove, a lamp, a compass, cordage, a sewing kit. Each item has its own pocket, which means you always know what's missing. It can be worn over the shoulder, on a belt, or attached to a backpack using MOLLE/PALS. A back sheath can hold a folding saw, a knife, or a small axe. The volume can be reduced with hook-and-loop fasteners when the bag is lightly loaded, so it doesn't swing around. It's the perfect bag for a day trip, prepared once and left ready to go.
