ESS
ESS CrossBlade STD 3LS LPL-5 Black Frame
Two wavelength ranges, not one. This is what separates this laser lens from half of the CrossBlade range: it handles green 532 nm and, in addition, blue-violet 405 to 445 nm.
Why the second range matters
532 nm green pointers are the most common, and most laser screens stop there. However, 405 to 445 nm blue and violet diodes have become common and just as aggressive. A screen that only handles green lets this second family pass entirely.
What this protection covers, and what it does not cover
The treatment reduces exposure to the wavelengths indicated above. It is not universal laser protection: a wavelength different from those announced is not covered.
For a laser risk defined in an industrial or medical environment, dedicated laser protection standards apply, and not the ballistic and industrial standards cited here.
The most complete kit in the range
Black CrossBlade frame, three lenses - smoke gray, clear, and the laser lens - black nose pad, zipped hard case and microfiber pouch.
Smoke for daylight, clear for night and indoors, laser for when the mission requires it. This is a pair of glasses that covers all three cases instead of requiring three.
The Tri-Tech Fit frame
Firm hold without pressure points, and without suffocating air circulation - this allows for prolonged wear under a helmet.
Lens treatment
ClearZone Dual Flow Coated: two distinct treatments, one for each side. Inside, an anti-fog; outside, an anti-scratch that withstands the aggressions of the field. The two sides do not undergo the same constraints, they do not receive the same treatment.
ESSOPTICS corrects distortion across the entire field of vision - which is important on a curved screen, where poorly controlled optics deform the edges.
Interchangeable lenses beyond this frame
CrossBlade lenses are compatible with Crossbow, Crosshair and Suppressor frames. An investment in a laser lens is therefore not locked to a single frame.
Standards declared by the manufacturer
MIL-PRF-32432A (U.S. military ballistic specification), ANSI Z87.1-2015 and U.S. federal OSHA.
