Scout Mk2 baseplate compass
Ships within 5 to 8 business days.
This is the compass you place on a map, not the one you hold at arm's length. The transparent housing allows the paper to be seen through it, and the body has everything needed to work directly on the map: rulers in centimeters and inches, a rotating dial graduated in degrees, and four plotting scales: 1:25000, 1:24000, 1:62500 and 1:50000. The 1:25000 is that of the IGN Blue Series maps, the foundation of French hiking maps. The housing is filled with liquid to stabilize the needle, and a cord prevents it from being lost during a break. A baseplate compass is chosen based on this detail: the engraved scales must correspond to the maps you actually use.
Highlights
- Four engraved scales: 1:25000, 1:24000, 1:62500 and 1:50000, including that of the 1:25000 IGN maps
- Integrated rulers: graduations in centimeters and inches along the baseplate
- Rotating dial: graduated in degrees, to take and plot an azimuth without calculation
