LifeSaver Collection - ultrafiltration water purification

LifeSaver was born as a response to two disasters. Following the 2004 tsunami and Hurricane Katrina in 2005, British inventor Michael Pritchard developed the first portable filter bottle in 2007 capable of removing viruses, not just bacteria. He was awarded an MBE for this work in 2013.

The difference lies in the technology. A standard hiking filter stops bacteria and parasites, but lets viruses through, as they are too small. LifeSaver ultrafiltration goes below the viral threshold: the brand claims the elimination of 99.99% of pathogens present in water, including viruses.

The range is chosen based on volume. The Liberty and Wayfarer bottles for an individual on the move, the 5 L Cube for bivouacking, the Jerrycan for a family, vehicle, or fixed station, with cartridges rated for up to 20,000 liters.

Replacement cartridges are available separately: a LifeSaver purifier is rechargeable, it is not disposable.
