What the half-rim changes

The downward field of vision is not cut off by any edge. This is what you look at when checking your foot placement, manipulating objects at waist height, or reading a handheld screen.

On the other hand, peripheral protection is less enclosed than with a wrap-around frame with a facial cavity.

Smoked lens, VLT 15%

Fifteen percent of light passes through the lens: this is a daytime lens. The smoked tint absorbs the spectrum uniformly, so colors are perceived accurately and reflections are eliminated.

The lens and its coating

Unbreakable, extruded, cut, and hot-formed Selenite polycarbonate. The hard coating resists scratches and fog.

This is a real difference compared to the brand's Captivate sun range, which receives oleophobic and anti-reflective treatment but no anti-fog. Here, fog was prioritized.

The frame

Injection-molded reinforced frame and temples made of Triloid nylon, anatomically shaped for prolonged wear. Lightweight and very resistant.

Rubber elements at the temple tips reduce fatigue and increase grip.

Standards declared by the manufacturer

ANSI Z87.1+, MIL-PRF-32432A and EN 166 S.

The S grade of the European standard corresponds to enhanced robustness, the basic requirement. Wrap-around frame models in the range achieve grade F (45 m/s), and the Spear Dual mask achieves grade B (120 m/s). If impact level is your main criterion, look in that direction.
