Wiley X WX Omega Captivate Polarized Grey

The manufacturer positions the Omega for sport shooting. It is the only one in the range to be explicitly positioned as such, and this guides everything else.

Why this positioning changes the choice

For shooting, the glasses must do three things at once: protect from impact, not distort the perception of target colors, and remain perfectly stable while shouldering.

The smoke lens addresses the second point - it absorbs the spectrum homogeneously - and the anatomical shape of the frame addresses the third.

Fifteen percent transmission: a daytime lens. Colors are perceived at their true value, and reflections are eliminated.

ANSI Z87.1+, MIL-PRF-32432(GL) and EN 166 F.

What Captivate technology brings

Captivate lenses are polarized, but Wiley X doesn't stop there: the brand announces truer colors and sharper details, in addition to the glare reduction inherent in polarization.

Polarization removes light reflected by flat surfaces - water, car hoods, windows, wet roads - without darkening the rest of the scene. A simply tinted lens, on the other hand, darkens both the reflection and the target in the same proportions.

HEV protection, in addition to UV

Beyond 100% UVA and UVB, these lenses also filter HEV light - the high-energy blue-violet band, located just after ultraviolet in the visible spectrum.

This is a protection that most ballistic glasses do not claim, and it concerns the part of the spectrum to which we are exposed all day long, not just in direct sunlight.

The lens and its coating

Unbreakable, extruded, cut and then hot-formed Selenite polycarbonate. The hard T-Shell coating is anti-scratch, anti-reflective and oleophobic.

This last property is rarely mentioned and yet very concrete: an oleophobic surface repels greasy substances. Fingerprints and sunscreen marks wipe off instead of spreading - which changes everything on a lens you handle with dirty hands.

The frame

Reinforced frame and temples injection-molded from Triloid nylon, anatomically shaped for prolonged wear. The material makes them both lightweight and very durable.

Rubber elements at the temple tips reduce fatigue and increase grip.

Color Black. The Omega also exists in mirror bronze on a black frame, and mirror green on Kryptek Neptune camouflage.
