What the Black Ops range means

Black Ops is Wiley X's matte black frame collection, designed for discretion in tactical environments.

Let's be precise: the manufacturer presents this range as a matter of finish, not performance. A Black Ops offers no better protection than the standard version of the same model – it's just less visible.

What the Omega aims for

When shooting, eyewear must do three things at once: protect against impact, not distort the perception of target colors, and remain perfectly stable while shouldering.

The smoked lens addresses the second point – it absorbs the spectrum uniformly – and the anatomical shape of the frame addresses the third.

The lens and its coating

Unbreakable Selenite polycarbonate, extruded, cut, then thermoformed. The hard coating resists scratches and fog.

This is a real difference compared to the brand's Captivate solar range, which receives an oleophobic and anti-reflective treatment but no anti-fog. Here, fogging was prioritized.

The frame

Reinforced frame and temples injection-molded from Triloid nylon, anatomically shaped for prolonged wear. Lightweight and very durable.

Rubber elements at the temple tips reduce fatigue and increase grip.

Standards declared by the manufacturer

ANSI Z87.1+ and EN 166 F, grade F for low-energy impact tested at 45 m/s.
