What the Black Ops range means

Black Ops is Wiley X's matte black frame collection, designed for discretion in tactical environments.

To be precise: the manufacturer presents this range as a matter of finish, not performance. A Black Ops doesn't protect better than the standard version of the same model - it's less visible.

The facial cavity seal

It closes the space between the frame and the face: it blocks peripheral light, the light that comes from the side and ruins contrast, as well as dust and splashes.

This is what separates safety glasses from reinforced sunglasses: the latter close the perimeter.

The smoked lens, VLT 15%

Fifteen percent transmission, for high light conditions. Colors remain perceived at their true value.

The lens and its coating

Unbreakable Selenite polycarbonate, extruded, cut, then thermoformed. The hard coating resists scratches and fog.

This is a real difference from the brand's Captivate solar range, which receives an oleophobic and anti-reflective treatment but no anti-fog. Here, fog was prioritized.

The frame

Reinforced frame and temples injection molded from Triloid nylon, anatomically shaped for prolonged wear. Lightweight and very resistant.

Rubber elements at the temple tips reduce fatigue and increase grip.

Standards declared by the manufacturer

ANSI Z87.1+, MIL-PRF-32432A and EN 166 F, grade F for low-energy impact tested at 45 m/s.
