11% VLT: the darkest lens in this batch. Eleven percent of light passes through - this is a very high luminosity lens, not an all-purpose lens.

When an 11% VLT is necessary

Reverberation on water, snow, light sand, full summer sun. In these conditions, a 15% lens still lets too much light through and the eye closes.

On the other hand, it will be too dark as soon as the light drops. This is not a lens you keep on all day.

The mirrored blue

The mirrored finish reflects a portion of the light before it enters the lens, and obscures the gaze from the outside. The blue tint absorbs the spectrum uniformly, so colors remain legible.

Mirrored or non-mirrored

The Climb Blue offers exactly the same 11% VLT in blue without a mirrored finish, on the same grey frame, at a very similar price.

The choice therefore comes down to one point: do you want your gaze to be obscured or not?

A sporty and discreet frame

The manufacturer describes it this way, as opposed to the more wraparound models in the range. This is the profile to consider for everyday use rather than operational use.

What Captivate technology brings

Captivate lenses are polarized, but Wiley X doesn't stop there: the brand boasts truer colors and sharper details, in addition to the glare reduction inherent in polarization.

Polarization eliminates light reflected by flat surfaces - water, hood, window, wet road - without darkening the rest of the scene. A simply tinted lens, however, darkens both the reflection and the target in the same proportions.

HEV protection, in addition to UV

Beyond 100% UVA and UVB, these lenses also filter HEV light - the high-energy blue-violet band, located just after ultraviolet in the visible spectrum.

This is a protection that most ballistic glasses do not claim, and it concerns the part of the spectrum to which we are exposed all day, not just in full sun.

The lens and its coating

Unbreakable Selenite polycarbonate, extruded, cut, then hot-formed. The hard T-Shell coating is scratch-resistant, anti-reflective, and oleophobic.

This last property is rarely mentioned and yet very concrete: an oleophobic surface repels greasy substances. Fingerprints and sunscreen marks wipe away instead of spreading - which makes all the difference on a lens you handle with dirty hands.

The frame

Reinforced frame and temples injection-molded from Triloid nylon, anatomically shaped for extended wear. The material makes them both lightweight and very durable.

Rubber elements at the temple tips reduce fatigue and increase grip.
