What the Black Ops range means

Black Ops is Wiley X's matte black frame collection, designed for discretion in tactical environments.

To be precise: the manufacturer presents this range as a matter of finish, not performance. A Black Ops does not protect better than the standard version of the same model - it is less visible.

The smoked lens, VLT 15%

Fifteen percent transmission: a daylight lens. The smoked lens absorbs the spectrum uniformly, colors remain faithful and reflections are eliminated.

The lens and its coating

Unbreakable Selenite polycarbonate, extruded, cut and then heat-formed. The hard coating resists scratches and fog.

This is a real difference from the brand's Captivate sunwear range, which receives an oleophobic and anti-reflective treatment but no anti-fog. Here, fog was treated as a priority.

The frame

Reinforced injection-molded frame and temples in Triloid nylon, anatomically shaped for prolonged wear. Lightweight and very resistant.

Rubber elements at the temple tips reduce fatigue and increase grip.

Standards declared by the manufacturer

ANSI Z87.1+, MIL-PRF-32432 and EN 166 S.

Grade S corresponds to enhanced robustness, the basic requirement of the European standard. Models with facial cavities in the range achieve grade F, tested at 45 m/s.
