The blue without the mirror finish. This is what separates the Climb from the Contend, for a nearly identical price.

Mirror or non-mirror

The Contend Blue offers the same blue lens with the same 11% VLT, on the same gray frame, with an added mirror finish.

The mirror reflects some of the light from the surface and hides the eyes from the outside. Without it, the Climb remains more understated and allows the eyes to be visible – which many prefer for daily or professional use.

Two euros separate the two models: it's a style choice, not a performance one.

11% VLT, a very high luminosity lens

Eleven percent of the light passes through the lens. This is made for reverberation – water, snow, light sand, full summer sun – and it will be too dark as soon as the light drops.

The blue tint absorbs the spectrum homogeneously: colors are perceived correctly and reflections are cancelled out.

A sporty and discreet frame

The manufacturer describes it this way, in contrast to the more wraparound models in the range. A profile designed for daily activities.

What Captivate technology brings

Captivate lenses are polarized, but Wiley X doesn't stop there: the brand announces bolder colors and sharper details, in addition to the glare reduction inherent to polarization.

Polarization removes light reflected by flat surfaces – water, hood, glass, wet road – without darkening the rest of the scene. A simply tinted lens, on the other hand, darkens both the reflection and the target in the same proportions.

HEV protection, in addition to UV

Beyond 100% UVA and UVB, these lenses also filter HEV light – the high-energy blue-violet band, located just after ultraviolet in the visible spectrum.

This is a protection that most ballistic eyewear does not claim, and it concerns the part of the spectrum to which we are exposed all day, not just in full sun.

The lens and its coating

Unbreakable Selenite polycarbonate, extruded, cut then hot-formed. The hard T-Shell coating is anti-scratch, anti-reflective and oleophobic.

This last property is rarely mentioned yet very tangible: an oleophobic surface repels greasy substances. Fingerprints and sunscreen wipe off instead of smudging – which makes all the difference on a lens you handle with dirty hands.

The frame

Reinforced injection-molded frame and temples made of Triloid nylon, anatomically shaped for prolonged wear. The material makes them both lightweight and very resistant.

Rubber elements at the temple tips reduce fatigue and increase grip.
