Vector Optics Paragon 8x42 Binoculars
Eight-times magnification is the format chosen by those who observe for long periods. Not for lack of ambition: because at 8x, the image does not shake.
Stability before power
The natural shaking of the hand is amplified as much as the image. At 8x, it remains imperceptible; at 10x, it starts to become a nuisance; at 12x, you need to lean on something for support. This is the primary criterion for a pair of binoculars that you keep to your eyes for several minutes at a time.
The exit pupil
42 divided by 8 gives 5.25 mm. This is the diameter of the beam that reaches the eye, and it is what determines the brightness perceived at the end of the day. A 10x42, with an identical objective lens, drops to 4.2 mm: less magnification means more light.
The format
Compact body, easy to carry, and ergonomic design thought out for a comfortable grip during prolonged use. The construction is made for regular outdoor use.
For which uses
Nature observation, hiking, scouting: anything that happens at medium distance and is watched for a long time.
The catalog also offers a Forester 8x42, with the same optical designation, and a Paragon 10x42 if you are looking for more detail.
