Five hundred lumens on standard AA batteries. That is the M40A's selling point: no need to order lithium cells, you can power it anywhere.

The adjustment ring

Everything is controlled by a ring that rotates on the body of the flashlight. No click sequences to memorize, no modes to cycle through: you go directly to the desired level, with or without gloves.

The four modes

• 500 lumens - 1.5 hours
• 150 lumens - 5 hours
• 15 lumens - 60 hours
• Strobe at 500 lumens

The 15-lumen mode lasting sixty hours is what makes the difference while camping: two and a half nights of continuous light on one set of batteries.

Power supply

Four 1.5V AA batteries, or their rechargeable equivalents of the same size and voltage - which lowers the cost of use and extends operating autonomy.

The body

Aviation-grade aluminum, shockproof, with Type III military-spec hard-anodized finish - the most abrasion-resistant treatment for aluminum.

Waterproof according to the IPX-8 standard. The LED is rated for 50,000 hours.
