Streamlight Siege Lantern
It floats. On a lake, in a canoe, during a downpour: a lantern that falls into the water can be retrieved instead of sinking. This is a feature you don't think to look for until you need it.
Five modes, from 30 to 430 hours
High white: 540 lm, 30 h
Medium white: 275 lm, 70 h
Low white: 55 lm, 295 h
Red night vision: 10 lm, 235 h
Flashing red SOS: 10 lm, 430 h
The difference is considerable: the same lantern lasts one night at full power, or eighteen days in SOS mode.
The red mode, two uses
Fixed, it preserves the eye's adaptation to darkness - you can move around a camp without dazzling anyone or losing your night vision.
Flashing SOS, it becomes a distress signal lasting over four hundred hours.
The charge indicator is in the button
The button changes color as it discharges: green, then yellow, then red. Flashing red announces the end. You know where you stand without having to guess.
The construction
Injection-molded shell made of durable polymer, rubberized base to hold on an uneven or slippery surface. Recessed multifunction button to prevent accidental activation.
IPX7: waterproof to 1 meter.
Power supply
Three D batteries or their rechargeable equivalents. Weight 880 g with batteries.
The more compact model
The Siege AA uses the same principle in a smaller size: 200 lumens instead of 540, on three AA batteries. Less light, much less bulk.
