Sightmark
Sightmark Solitude 10x42 Binoculars
Nitrogen-purged optics do not fog up from the inside. This is the difference between binoculars that last through the winter and those that eventually end up in the trash.
Nitrogen purging
The optical block is sealed and filled with nitrogen. Since there is no water vapor inside, no fog can form on the internal surfaces of the lenses—the ones you cannot wipe clean.
The IP67 rating completes the protection: dustproof and waterproof, as well as shock-resistant.
What the numbers mean
10x magnification with 42 mm objective lenses. The exit pupil—42 divided by 10—is 4.2 mm: this is a daylight format, perfectly comfortable as long as there is light.
At 10x, you are at the limit for handheld observation: resting your elbows significantly stabilizes the image.
Eye relief
0.72 inches, or about 18 mm. This is generous, and it allows you to keep your prescription glasses on without losing the edges of the field of view.
The optics
Roof prisms, BaK4 glass, and fully multi-coated lenses. BaK4 is the prism glass that provides a fully illuminated field of view right to the edges.
A diopter adjustment of -4 to +4 is built into the right eyepiece to correct any difference between your two eyes.
The form factor
750 g, 150 x 125 x 51 mm. Polymer body with rubberized coating: the grip is non-slip and shocks are absorbed.
The package includes the binoculars, a neck strap, lens caps, a shoulder harness, and a carrying bag.
