The Field version of the Map Case, in infrared-treated PL Woodland camouflage. The map travels in a transparent zippered internal pocket, protected from dirt and abrasion. Four external pockets, two secured with snap buttons and two top-opening, plus side loops for a pen or marker. It folds in half and snaps shut when not in use. Field items in PL Woodland camouflage are NIR-treated, also known as IRR: the visible fabrics and components are chosen to absorb, reflect, and transmit near-infrared radiation in the same way as undergrowth, which reduces silhouette contrast under night vision devices. Each material is checked by spectrophotometer in the laboratory and in the field.
