Klarus
Klarus GL4
Three thousand three hundred lumens: that is double what most weapon lights provide. The GL4 maintains this power thanks to a 21700 cell, which is larger than the usual 18650.
The six modes
- Turbo: 3300 lm, range 370 m, 4 hours
- High: 1200 lm, range 200 m, 7 hours
- Medium: 200 lm, range 80 m, 13.5 hours
- Low: 5 lm, range 20 m, 375 hours
- Strobe: 2200 lm, 4 hours
- SOS: 200 lm, 32 hours
How to interpret these runtimes
The Turbo and High mode runtimes include thermal regulation. A 5000 mAh 21700 battery carries about 18 watt-hours; 3300 lumens consume about thirty watts. The stated four hours therefore run from the moment Turbo is activated, with the intelligent temperature control reducing power to protect the LED. This is the normal operation for all lights of this power, not a defect—but it is better to know this beforehand.
The Medium and Low modes, on the other hand, maintain their 13.5 hours and 375 hours at constant power.
The light
Luminus SST70 emitter. The beam cuts through fog, which is exactly what is expected of a patrol weapon light.
Mounting and controls
Compatible with 1913 / Picatinny and M-LOK rails. The remote cable switch provides access to both the main button and the mode selector, for Turbo and momentary-on without letting go of the weapon.
Two setting sets: tactical and outdoor, the latter keeping the chosen level in memory.
Power supply
5000 mAh 21700 battery, recharged via USB-C port. Charge indicator: red below 30%, orange from 30 to 70%, green above that.
The body
Anodized 6061-T6 aluminum. IPX8: immersion at 2 meters. Resistance to 1.5 m drops.
