Hydrapak Pioneer 6L

A flexible reservoir placed on the ground is damaged by friction, not by pressure. This is what the Pioneer's sleeve is designed to correct.

The ripstop sleeve

The reservoir is encased in an abrasion-resistant ripstop nylon. The ripstop weave prevents tears from spreading: a cut remains a cut instead of running the entire length.

This explains the 310 g weight—more than the 8 L Expedition in our catalog, which holds more but lacks a sleeve.

Filling

Redesigned and widened Slide-Seal top opening: allows for fast filling and is large enough to fit a hand inside for cleaning.

The cap and its compatibility

Screw cap compatible with 28 mm water filters. This is the narrow thread standard used for filters that screw onto water bottles. Check yours: the 8 L Expedition in the catalog uses a 63 mm cap, and the two are not interchangeable.

The format

When empty, it flattens and rolls up: a rigid 6-liter jerrycan always takes up 6 liters of space, whereas this one takes up the space of a rag.
