Hydrapak Expedition 8L E800
Eight liters for two hundred and fifty-seven grams. A rigid jerrycan of the same capacity weighs several kilos, and it still takes up eight liters once empty.
Internal baffles
This is the key feature. Two baffles run through the interior of the reservoir: they prevent the water from sloshing when the bag is full, and distribute the load across the walls. Without them, eight liters in motion would deform the bag and strain the welds.
Construction
Radio-frequency welded seams, without thread or glue: this is the most durable method for flexible film. Materials: elastic thermoplastic polyurethane, polypropylene, and nylon.
When empty, the reservoir flattens and rolls up.
The cap, and what it accepts
Screw cap compatible with 63 mm water filters. This is the wide thread: it provides access to a whole family of gravity filters and screw-on cartridges, for drawing water directly from the source.
The two Pioneer reservoirs in the catalog use a 28 mm thread, which is incompatible. This is the point to check before ordering if you already have a filter.
Attachment
Two side points for strapping or hanging the reservoir—on a tree for gravity, on a pack, or in a vehicle trunk.
Capacity 8,000 ml.
