An axe dedicated to splitting, not cutting: the head geometry spreads the fibers instead of slicing them, which makes all the difference on an upright log. The head is sandblasted and then clear-varnished; the handle is curved hickory. At Hultafors, the head weight serves as a guide: the heavier models are for hard and stubborn wood, the lighter ones for ordinary firewood. This one, at 1.358 kilos all-in, is on the lighter end of the range and remains easy to handle with one hand.
