ESS
ESS Crosshair ONE Smoke
The smoke gray lens is for daytime. It reduces brightness without shifting colors - a neutral gray that is neither warm nor cool.
Smoke or Clear
This item is also available with a clear lens, at the same price. The choice is not aesthetic:
Smoke gray for outdoor use in daylight, driving, daytime shooting.
Clear for night, indoors, the workshop - where any tint would be a hindrance.
Many people get both, or go straight for the 3-lens kit which includes the yellow contrast lens.
The ToughZone coating
An anti-scratch coating applied to both sides of the lens. This is a durability treatment, not an anti-fog: if fog is your main concern, look at the Crossbow range and its ClearZone FlowCoat.
The DedBolt lock
It releases the lens with a single motion and relocks it upon impact. Even on an entry-level frame, the mechanism is the same as the series.
A platform, not a dead end
The Crosshair accepts high-end Crossbow lenses, including polarized gray, and adapts to ultra-thin Suppressor frames for use under communication headsets or hearing protection.
The lens
High-strength 2.4 mm polycarbonate, distortion-free ESSOPTICS, 100% UVA and UVB protection.
Standards declared by the manufacturer
Exceeds ANSI Z87.1 optical requirements and U.S. military impact requirements.
