ESS
ESS Crosshair 3LS Kit
Three tints, three times of day. Clear for night and indoor use, grey for full sun, yellow for low light and overcast skies.
Why yellow?
It's the least understood of the three tints. It doesn't darken; it increases contrast when the light is flat—dawn, dusk, fog, undergrowth. Against a uniform gray background, features become readable again.
Good to know before choosing: ToughZone is not ClearZone
The Crosshair features ToughZone coating: an anti-scratch treatment applied to both sides. It's a durability treatment, not an anti-fog treatment.
The Crossbow 3LS Kit, at a very similar price, features ClearZone FlowCoat: anti-fog on the inside, anti-scratch on the outside, and its manufacturer's specifications also state CE EN 166 and MIL-PRF-31013.
If fogging is your main problem, compare the two before ordering. If two-sided scratch resistance is what you need, the Crosshair performs exactly as intended.
The DedBolt lock
Pivots upward to release the lens, closes to hold it in place under impact. Tool-free tint change.
