ESS Crossbow Replacement Photochromic Lens

This is a replacement lens, not a pair of glasses. You receive the lens only, to be mounted on a frame you already own.

A single lens that replaces three tints

The tint adjusts automatically to the light. The manufacturer announces a transmission range from 86% - almost a clear lens - to 24% when fully activated, which is a full-sun tint.

In short: this lens alone covers the interval usually covered by a clear lens and a smoked lens.

Transition speed, quantified

50% activation in 11 seconds.
90% activation in less than 60 seconds.

This is the data that really matters for a photochromic lens. Exiting a building in bright sun, passing under cover, entering a vehicle: the transition happens while you're moving, not three minutes later.

What a photochromic lens doesn't do

The transition is not instantaneous. For a very abrupt change from shade to full sun, there is a delay of a few seconds. If your use requires a fixed and known tint in advance, a classic lens remains more predictable.
