ESS Credence Smoke Gray
A frame designed for wide faces. This is the Credence's raison d'être, and it's rarely stated so clearly: the manufacturer explicitly designs it for those with above-average builds.
The problem it solves
On a wide face, a standard frame compresses the temples, leaves a gap on the sides, and slips as soon as you sweat. The Credence widens the geometry and the arms, which closes off peripheral protection instead of leaving it open.
Ballistic protection that isn't visible
Discreet logo, ordinary sunglass silhouette. Ballistic-rated protection in an everyday wearable item without signaling what it is.
The arms are thin at the tips
Thin tips reduce contact points under a cap, hat, or helmet—exactly where thick arms create pressure points.
Lens manufacturing
Unbreakable polycarbonate extruded, cut, then thermoformed, covered with a hard anti-scratch and anti-glare coating. The widened lens increases the useful field of vision.
The Smoke Gray lens
Optimized light transmission, homogeneous spectrum absorption—colors remain true—and reduced reflections.
The four Credence models
Smoke Gray, Tan frame - the entry-level.
Smoke Gray, Black frame - same lens, black frame.
Mirrored Copper, Grey frame - mirrored copper lens.
Polarized Mirror Green, Carbon frame - the only polarized lens in the range.
Be careful when comparing: two references share the same lens name and are only distinguished by frame color.
Standards declared by the manufacturer
Lenses ballistic rated according to MIL-PRF-32432 and ANSI Z87.1-2015, 100% UVA and UVB filtration.
