ESS
ESS 5B Polarized Gray
Neutral grey polarized tint. It cuts reflected light without shifting colors - it's the most versatile combination in the 5B range.
What polarization removes
Light reflected from a flat surface - water, glass, car hood, wet road - is polarized. The filter removes it without affecting the rest of the scene: the white glare disappears and what was behind it becomes visible again.
A simply tinted lens darkens both the reflection and the target proportionally. Contrast does not improve.
Polarized grey or polarized mirror green
The 5B range offers both at a similar price. Grey is neutral and does not alter color perception. Mirror green adds a mirror finish that reflects some of the light from the surface and conceals the wearer's eyes.
Construction
Injected frame made of high-strength polymer, widened temples that close off peripheral protection, low-profile temple tips to limit contact points under a cap or helmet.
Unbreakable polycarbonate lenses extruded, cut, then thermoformed, hard anti-scratch and anti-glare coating.
5B or Credence
Both ranges share construction, coating, and spirit. The difference is morphological: the manufacturer explicitly designs Credence for faces that are above average.
Standard declared by the manufacturer
Lenses rated ballistic according to ANSI Z87.1-2015, with 100% UVA and UVB filtration.
Unlike other 5B lenses, the manufacturer's data sheet for this reference does not mention the MIL-PRF-32432 specification.
