ESS
ESS 5B Hi-Def Bronze
Bronze is not just a colored gray. It's the shade you choose when neutral gray flattens the scene too much and you want to maintain depth in greens and browns.
The Hi-Def Bronze Lens
Optimized light transmission, homogeneous spectral absorption for faithful color perception, reduced reflections. The Hi-Def designation indicates a tint designed for definition rather than simple darkening.
Two Frames for Outdoor Use
Olive and Camo - the two most field-oriented colors in the range, where other 5B models offer black or tan.
Note on pricing: the two frames for the same lens are not at the same price.
Construction
Injected frame made of high-strength polymer, with widened temples that close the peripheral protection instead of leaving a gap at the sides.
The temple tips are low profile: fewer contact points under a cap, hat, or helmet.
Unbreakable polycarbonate lenses extruded, cut, then thermoformed, covered with a hard anti-scratch and anti-reflective coating.
The 5B Range
Smoke Gray - Hi Vis Orange or Tan frames.
Hi-Def Bronze - Olive or Camo frames.
Mirrored Gray - Black frame.
Copper - Black frame.
Polarized Mirror Green - Grey frame.
The price depends on the tint and the frame: two frames for the same lens may not be the same price.
5B or Credence
The two ranges share the same construction, coating, and standards. The difference is morphological: the manufacturer explicitly designs the Credence for larger than average faces. If a standard frame pinches your temples, the Credence is what you should consider.
Standards Declared by the Manufacturer
Lenses classified as ballistic according to MIL-PRF-32432 and ANSI Z87.1-2015, with 100% UVA and UVB filtration and distortion-free optical clarity.
