ESS
ESS 5B Copper
Copper, without mirror finish. This is the understated version of the warm tints in the range: the tint does all the work, nothing is reflected on the surface.
The Copper lens
Optimized light transmission, homogeneous spectrum absorption for faithful color perception, reduced reflections.
A warm tint retains more separation in greens and browns than a neutral gray, which treats the entire spectrum in the same way.
Where it fits in the range
Same black frame as the 5B Mirrored Gray, within a euro. The choice is between a warm, non-mirrored tint and a neutral, mirrored tint - two opposing approaches at almost identical prices.
Construction
Frame injected in high-resistance polymer, with widened temples that close off peripheral protection instead of leaving a gap at the sides.
The temple tips are low-profile: fewer contact points under a cap, hat, or helmet.
Unbreakable polycarbonate lenses extruded, cut, then thermoformed, covered with a hard anti-scratch and anti-reflective coating.
The 5B Range
Smoke Gray - Hi Vis Orange or Tan frames.
Hi-Def Bronze - Olive or Camo frames.
Mirrored Gray - Black frame.
Copper - Black frame.
Polarized Mirror Green - Grey frame.
The price depends on the tint and the frame: two frames of the same lens may not be the same price.
5B or Credence
Both ranges share the same construction, coating, and standards. The difference is morphological: the manufacturer explicitly designs the Credence for faces above average size. If a standard frame squeezes your temples, you should look at the Credence.
Manufacturer Declared Standards
Lenses rated ballistic according to MIL-PRF-32432 and ANSI Z87.1-2015, with 100% UVA and UVB filtration and distortion-free optical clarity.
