Instructions for use and precautions for use

■ Fueling: Place the lantern on a flat surface, remove the cap, and pour paraffin oil (or white kerosene) into the container opening. (Do not fill the container completely or nearly so, as the fuel may overflow.) After adding the appropriate amount of fuel, screw the cap back on tightly.

■ Ignition: Once the wick is saturated with fuel, lower the lever and place it on the notch to lock it in place. Light the wick with a match, return the lever to its initial position, and turn the flame adjustment knob to adjust the wick length to prevent soot from forming on the surface. *Excessive flame can break the glass stopper. Be careful.

■ Extinguishing: To extinguish the flame, turn the flame adjustment knob to turn it off and ensure it is completely out. *Be careful not to lower the wick too far, as it may detach and fall into the reservoir.

Precautions for using Dietz lanterns

[Regarding the replacement of the glass, wick and burner]

It has a carrying handle.

1. With the hand holding the carrying handle, grasp the top ring and lift the top cover.
2. With your other hand, slowly push the ascidian backwards.

  • To replace the wick or burner, hold the flame adjustment knob and turn it clockwise towards the filling hole to remove the burner.
  • To replace the glass, remove it from the support wire while tilting it backwards.

About burns

  • When using the lantern, the top cover and top ring become particularly hot. Do not touch them, as they could cause burns.

About fuel

  • Be sure to use our paraffin oil (sold separately) or white kerosene (kerosene used in heating appliances, etc.) as fuel. Never use highly volatile or flammable fuels such as gasoline, white spirit, or alcohol.

Place of use

  • Never use in a tent, car or any other poorly ventilated place.
  • When used indoors, pay particular attention to fire hazards and ventilation.
  • Do not place flammable or heat-sensitive objects near the burner while it is burning.
  • If you are using it suspended, hang it vertically on a solid, heat-resistant surface.
  • This product is dangerous; therefore, never leave it within reach of children.
