D3O
D3O P5 Elbow Pad
The entry-level D3O elbow pad, featuring the same material as the others. What changes in the higher-end models is the ventilation and reinforcements—not the protection principle.
How it protects
The polymer mimics the behavior of a non-Newtonian fluid: its viscosity depends on the force applied. At rest, it is flexible and follows the arm's movement. Upon impact, it hardens instantly and absorbs the shock.
It is the opposite of a hard shell, which provides good protection but is often removed because it gets in the way.
Ventilation
The component is perforated to increase airflow and improve ventilation under the sleeve.
Installation
It slides into the dedicated sleeve pockets. Nothing needs to be fastened around the elbow, so there are no straps that slip during activity.
Compatibility
Its anatomical shape and flexibility allow it to fit into the pockets of many brands and models of tactical tops.
Temperature resistance
The material remains stable across a wide climate range and functions just as well in cold as it does in heat.
Field-proven by military personnel in combat conditions. The P12 elbow pad in our catalog adds TriVent ventilation and a slimmer profile.
