The Companion HeavyDuty is the reinforced version of Morakniv’s all-around knife, and the two numbers that matter are on the blade: 3.2 millimeters thick with a 27-degree sharpening angle. A thick blade will not bend when you use it for batoning to split kindling, and a more open angle resists chipping where a thin edge would be damaged. Carbon steel, which is softer than stainless steel, is quick to resharpen in the field. The sturdy handle provides a secure grip for forceful tasks.
