The Basic 511 is Morakniv's construction knife, originally designed for Scandinavian construction workers. Everything about it is made to be safe and affordable: a full guard that prevents the hand from sliding onto the blade, a thick handle that can be gripped with gloves, and a carbon steel blade manufactured at the factory in Mora, Sweden. Carbon steel bites harder than stainless steel and can be resharpened in a few passes on a stone, provided it is stored dry.
