Clawgear
Clawgear Upper Austria Shield Patch
A coat of arms loses its colors in a discreet version. This is the test every heraldic emblem must pass when rendered in monochrome, and it determines its true legibility.
What monochrome takes away
In heraldry, color carries meaning: it distinguishes fields, separates partitions, and identifies charges. When rendered in Desert or RAL7013, all of this disappears in favor of a single shade.
What remains is the design: outlines, partitions, silhouettes. A coat of arms only survives in monochrome if its design is clear enough to be read without the aid of color - and this is precisely what the high resolution of weaving preserves where embroidery would blend the elements together.
Choosing your version with full awareness
Multicolor when the patch needs to be read and identified.
Desert and RAL7013 when it needs to blend in with the uniform - the pattern remains recognizable up close, without creating a point of contrast.
