And the pouch tilts
The retention system allows you to tilt the pouch backwards. A GPS mounted flat on a backpack strap is read at an awkward angle. Tilted, the screen faces your eyes. This is the real innovation of this pouch, and it cannot be seen in any photo.
Why this matters in navigation
Taking out a GPS, checking it, putting it away: three gestures, and just as many opportunities to drop it or lose it while on the move. Here, consulting it requires no gestures, and the device never leaves its anchor point.
Compatibility
Developed for the Garmin GPSmap 65 and comparable button-operated GPS trackers. Touchscreen devices without physical buttons will not benefit from the principle.
Where to mount it
On backpack straps, on a front admin panel, or on any PALS surface. The high position, close to the field of vision, is the one that best utilizes the tilt.
