The sign counts as much as the letter. A positive and A negative are not interchangeable, and on a three-character patch, it is the smallest of them that carries this distinction.

Why sign clarity is critical

A "+" whose branches close or a "-" thickened by the thread become ambiguous. This is exactly what embroidery produces on small characters: it stacks material and rounds off the ends.

High-resolution weaving integrates the design into the weave instead of stacking it on top. The sign retains its edges, and the information remains unambiguous.

A patch not meant for you

It exists to be read by a third party when you can no longer respond. It is only useful if it is visible from the outside, accurate, and consistent with the rest of your medical information.

A patch remains an indication worn on equipment, not a medical document: it does not replace any formal verification.
