Helikon-Tex®
Ranger Mk2 aluminum sighting compass
Ships in 3 to 5 business days.
Same architecture as the ABS version, but with an aluminum housing: thirty grams heavier, and significantly more resistant to crushing in a fatigue pocket or under a pack strap. You aim at a point in the terrain through the slot and read the azimuth in the same motion. The side features a 1:25,000 scale, the scale used for IGN Série Bleue maps, and the dial adds a mil graduation in addition to degrees, the unit used for firing corrections. The housing is liquid-filled, which dampens the needle, and the phosphorescent compass card remains readable at night after exposure to light.
Strengths
- Aluminum housing: withstands compression and impacts better than the plastic version
- Degrees and mils: both graduations on the same dial, for azimuth and firing correction
- Liquid-filled: the needle stabilizes quickly, even while walking
