A ferrocerium fire starter is unaffected by water or cold and never runs out of fuel. This one comes in a steel box that keeps the rod, the striker, and the tinder all in one place: that's half the appeal of the model, as it keeps you from having to hunt for the striker at the bottom of your pack when your fingers are frozen. The movement is quick: scrape, the spray of sparks flies, and the tinder ignites. A simple cotton ball or birch bark is enough to catch the sparks. The lid features the Bushcraft line logo, making the box easy to identify by touch inside a bag pocket.
