AKU
AKU Pilgrim HL GTX Combat
Full-grain leather, with a membrane backing. This is the most protective configuration in the Pilgrim range, and the most expensive in the AKU catalog.
The membrane, and what it justifies
Gore-Tex: waterproofing, breathability, and moisture wicking. This is the only technical difference between this model and the Pilgrim DS Combat in the catalog, which does not feature a membrane. If you are hesitating between the two, the question lies there and nowhere else.
Upper materials
Waterproof full-grain leather combined with AKU's AIR8000 textile. The leather provides abrasion resistance and long-term durability, while the textile provides breathability—claimed to be eleven times higher than comparable textiles.
The sole
Vibram Foura, injected into a rubber compound with balanced grip for all terrains.
Cushioning
Injected EVA Microprosa foam midsole, for foot stabilization and support over long distances. The IMS system with a tailored shape reduces vibrations and stress transmitted to the boot.
Custom Fit IMS footbed.
Lacing
Traditional, with metal eyelets and hooks—no quick-lacing system here. It takes longer to lace, but offers more precise adjustment and can be repaired with a lace found anywhere.
Non-reflective color. Versatile tactical boots: hiking, trekking, military use.
