Nite Ize was founded in 1989 by Rick Case, then a student at the University of Colorado, with a $1,500 family loan. Its first product was a headband for holding a small flashlight on your head, and the company is still based in Boulder.

The brand specializes in small items that simplify everyday life. It has launched over a thousand inventions and holds more than 400 patents. The S-Biner, a double-opening carabiner, and the Gear Tie, a reusable rubber tie, are its best-known products.
