Hultafors

Hultafors Collection - hand-forged Swedish axes

Hultafors axes come from Hults Bruk, a Swedish forge with a tradition dating back to 1697. The head is hand-forged: it receives between 40 and 60 hammer blows, which densify the material and harden the steel where it works. This is what sets a forged axe apart from a stamped one, and you can feel it from the first log.

Everything is based on the same two choices: Swedish carbon steel, which sharpens quickly and bites deep, and a hickory handle, that resilient American wood which absorbs the shock instead of passing it back to the wrist. Every axe is delivered with its blade guard.

The range is categorized by its use. The felling axes HY 10 and the splitting axe KLY 7 are firewood tools, with a long handle and a heavy head. The Stålberg carpenter's axe features a straight handle, a long and narrow edge, and a notch under the head to hold the hand right above the cut. The Ekelund hunting axe is designed for precision. The hatchets H 006, H 009, Agelsjön, and Hultån slide into a backpack for campfire wood.

To complement the axes, the brand includes tools for maintenance and support: the sharpening stone in its leather pouch, the Forsberg thigh guard in impregnated leather for working the blade close to the body, and the Fire Steel FS, a ferrocerium rod 100 mm long by 10 mm in diameter.
