Benchmade
Benchmade Collection - Oregon City Knives
It all began in 1979 in California, when Les de Asis made his first butterfly knives under the name Bali-Song. The brand took the name Benchmade in the late 1980s, then settled in Oregon in 1990, near the region's knife-making workshops. Since 1996, the knives have come out of the Oregon City factory.
The turning point came in the late 1990s: Benchmade bought a sliding bar lock from two knife makers, Bill McHenry and Jason Williams, which it named AXIS. A steel bar slides into a slot in the handle and locks the blade from behind. The lock opens and closes with one hand, without placing fingers in the path of the cutting edge, and it now equips most of the brand's folders.
At Outpost, the bulk of the collection is made of folding knives: the very lightweight Bugout, the Mini Griptilian, the Presidio II, the Adamas and the Mini Adamas in MagnaCut, the Bedlam, the Freek in CPM M4, the SlipRidge series in wood, carbon, G10 or Micarta. The automatics take up several of these designs: Auto Adamas, Mini Auto Adamas, Casbah, Claymore.
On the fixed blade side, we find the SOCP dagger and its training model, the Hidden Canyon Hunter, the Saddle Mountain Skinner and the Fixed Adamas for hunting and field use. Balisong enthusiasts will find the Necron, a nod to the brand's beginnings. Cordura sheaths, BlueLube lubricant and adjustment tools complete the set.
The steels vary depending on the models: S30V, S90V, M4, M390 or MagnaCut. Each sheet specifies the one of the blade, its length and the handle material.
